I guess for me, a forty-something elementary media specialist; whose first experience with a computer was using BASIC on an Apple IIe to create a personal phone directory and then playing Oregon Trail, I have always been looking forward to the next VERSION. Web 2.0 is no different. These kids are excited and hungry for ways to express themselves and the internet is their playground. I do get a bit worried, particularily with violent and sexual content and how that will play out in a child's life. I guess we need to be vigilant teaching the concept of... with freedom comes responsibility.
A far as the 2.0 label, for me it signifies more of a shift in thinking than a new array of awesome apps. When I recall my cataloging class; and I remember thinking, "Why do we have to know all these details when the computer can take care of all this?" Now I realize, when the rubber hits the road, and I am trying to help a 2nd grader find a book about Easter Crafts, it sure helps to know those details.
